The Flannery Transport Team proudly holds eight consecutive years of FORS Gold accreditation across every depot, a testament to our uncompromising focus on safety and operational excellence. Enhanced Blind‑Spot Vision with Advanced Truck Safety Technology:
- Driver alerts

- Direct vision panels fitted to the passenger door
- Tablets. All the drivers’ work is issued via a tablet. The tablets are also used to conduct the daily walk around safety check at the start of the drivers’ shift. Recording that the vehicle is safe to use and any issue is highlighted to the transport managers immediately.
STGO – Special Types General Order
As part of our comprehensive Plant Hire operation, we offer an award-winning, in-house transportation service that specialises in STGO (Specialist Type General Order) load movements. Our transport division boasts over 50 years of expertise in construction logistics and planning.
We operate one of the largest STGO fleets in the UK, specifically tailored for plant hire. In line with our commitment to sustainability, we deploy the most efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles and assets across the UK and Europe. We view this as an opportunity to minimise our environmental impact and contribute positively to the industry.
With a nationwide network of depots, we are strategically positioned to further reduce fuel consumption and lower our carbon footprint.

Getting to Site, Greener and Cleaner
The Flannery transport fleet is equipped with the Scania Fleet Management program, which allows us to take control of our fleet, control costs and lower fuel emissions. This sustainable technology enables us to plan the most efficient routes, factor in real-time changes based on traffic information. It also allows us to alert the drivers and organise repairs if needed.
Flannery delivers in-house eco training to our HGV drivers and transport managers, that focuses on saving fuel and reducing the environmental impact of commercial vehicles. The benefit of embracing these technologies has helped us to increase our average fuel consumption from 3.5 mpg to 6.1 mpg over a 3 year period.
Direct Vision Standard
Flannery Plant Hire are happy to be in support of the Direct Vision Standard, which measures how much an HGV driver can see directly through their cab windows. This indicates the level of risk to vulnerable road users, such as people walking, cycling and motorcycling near the vehicle. This aims to make the streets of London safer of pedestrians and cyclists since its design in October 2019.
The Direct Vision Standard and HGV safety permit for HGVs is part of the Mayor of London’s Vision Zero plan to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on London’s transport network.
The Flannery Plant Hire HGV fleet exceeds the Mayor’s requirements and we continue to raise the bar including our latest additions to the HGV fleet.
